Under the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 (NSW), urgent repairs must be fixed as soon as possible — typically within 24 hours. Urgent repairs include broken heating, gas leaks, flooding, sewage faults, and anything that makes the property unsafe or uninhabitable. If the landlord fails to act, you can arrange repairs yourself (up to $1,000) and claim reimbursement, or apply to NCAT for an order.
